Frequently Asked Questions
1. General
- What is uffy.cc?
A privacy-focused short URL redirect service. We don’t track clicks, log IPs, or collect analytics. You control your redirects through a simple dashboard.
- How do I log in?
Login is handled through Discord OAuth. We don’t store your password — authentication is handled securely by Discord.
2. Redirects & Aliases
- How long do redirects last?
Redirects last 30, 21, 14, or 7 days depending on your choice at creation. Each link can also be renewed.
- What happens when a redirect expires?
Expired redirects enter a 7-day grace period. During this time, they no longer work but still appear on your dashboard for possible renewal.
- Why do redirects get deleted?
To prevent hoarding of short or popular aliases. If a redirect isn’t renewed during its grace period, it is deleted and the alias is released for others to use.
- Can I keep a custom alias forever?
Yes, as long as you keep renewing it during the renewal window. If you stop, it will be deleted and released for reuse.
3. Renewals
- When can I renew a redirect?
Renewals are available during the last 3 days before expiry and throughout the grace period.
- How do I know when to renew?
The dashboard shows status, expiry countdown, and a renewal button during the eligible period.
- Why can't I renew earlier than the 3 day period?
To keep things fair and prevent users from permanently locking in short or highly desirable aliases, renewals are only available in the last 3 days before expiry. This ensures everyone has a fair chance to claim released names and discourages “set-and-forget” hoarding. It also keeps the namespace active and regularly maintained.
4. Notifications
- Do I get reminders?
If you set up a Discord webhook, you’ll receive reminders at 20 days, 10 days, 3 days, on expiry, and when deletion is about to happen.
5. Privacy
- Do you track link clicks or IPs?
No. We never log IP addresses or collect analytics. Only minimal data for redirects and account management is stored (see Privacy Policy).
6. Content Rules & Abuse
- What content is allowed?
You may not create aliases or destinations that violate our Terms of Service or that contain disallowed/inappropriate words. We maintain a blocklist to keep the service safe and usable for everyone.
- What if I try to bypass the blocklist?
Attempts to circumvent our filters — including obvious obfuscation (leet substitutions, inserting invisible characters, Unicode tricks, or similar workarounds) — are treated as violations. Any redirect created that attempts to bypass the blocklist will be instantly disabled.
- What happens after a disabled redirect?
The redirect will be disabled immediately. Repeated offences from the same account may result in account suspension or permanent ban from the service. We enforce this to prevent abuse and namespace manipulation.
- How is this enforced?
Enforcement is automated where possible and may include manual review for ambiguous cases. We only retain minimal metadata required to process and document enforcement actions (for example: deletion/disable reason and the alias involved) consistent with our Privacy Policy.
- Disputes & Appeals
If you believe your redirect was disabled in error, contact us via Contact. Provide the alias and a short explanation — we will review appeals promptly.
